Learn how to find, carry, and sell various treasures in Sea of Thieves. Discover different treasure types, their locations, and how they contribute to your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Find Treasure: Treasure can be discovered through Voyages, found on islands, in shipwrecks, floating in the sea, or obtained from defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a distinct glint or glow, varying in color to indicate their type.
  2. 2
Carry Treasure: You can only carry one treasure item at a time. While carrying treasure, you cannot use equipment or resources, and your combat abilities are limited. You must drop the treasure to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller treasures can be stored in Container Chests, which hold up to three items and hide their glow.
  3. 3
Deliver Treasure: All treasure must be carried by hand to the appropriate Trading Company representative at an Outpost to receive Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value. Treasure left on land remains until interacted with, but treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes (except for Trade Good Crates).
  4. 4
Emissary Bonus: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants bonus Reputation and Emissary Value for relevant treasures picked up and delivered.
Tips
  • Treasure Chests are sold to the Gold Hoarders. They come in various types: Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed. Each type has different origins and values.
  • Artefacts are smaller items found in chests, vaults, or across the seas. They emit a golden glint and are sold to the Gold Hoarders.
  • Other treasures include skulls (for the Order of Souls) and trade goods (for the Merchant Alliance).
  • Container Chests can hold up to 3 small treasure items, making transport easier and hiding their glow.
