Discover how to find, carry, and sell various treasures in Sea of Thieves. Learn about different treasure types, their locations, and how they contribute to your gold, reputation, and emissary value.
Treasures are Transportable Items that can be found, carried, and sold to Trading Companies in exchange for Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Treasure is the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves.
- 2Each Trading Company values specific types of Treasure Items and has Representatives at every Outpost.
- 3Representatives accept Treasures related to their Company for Gold/Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
- 4Outpost Representatives also offer Voyages, which lead Crews on Quests to find Treasure items.
- 5Random Treasure can be found across The Sea of Thieves, including on Islands, in Barrels of Plenty, Shipwrecks, Vaults in Forts, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
- 6Every Treasure Item has a colored glint or glow for easy spotting from afar.
- 7Treasure items must be carried by hand to their respective Company Representative for a payout.
- 8A Pirate can only hold one Treasure Item at a time and cannot fight or use equipment while carrying it; the Treasure must be dropped to regain full control.
- 9All Treasure Items can be retrieved from a distance with a Harpoon.
- 10Smaller Treasure Items can be placed inside Container Chests (holding up to 3) to hide their emitted Glow, Glint, or Sound, making transportation easier.
- 11Treasure left on land stays until interacted with, but Treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes (except Trade Good Crates).
- 12While sailing as Trading Company Emissaries, picking up a relevant Treasure item grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional Reputation for placing it on the Ship.
Tips
- Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that purchases them.
- Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance, Treasure Items are further categorized into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, and Ghostly variants.
- Gold Hoarders Treasure includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
- Treasure Chests are unbreakable and locked, sold to the Gold Hoarders. They emit a White Glint and include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed types.
- Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, in Treasure Chests, or Fortress Vaults, emitting a Golden Glint.
