Learn how to find, carry, and sell various treasures in Sea of Thieves. Discover different treasure types, their locations, and how they benefit your pirate crew.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through dedicated Voyages, randomly on Islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within Fort vaults, or taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, indicating their type from afar.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests, which hold up to 3 items and hide their glow.
- 3Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 4Emissary Bonus: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained when the treasure is placed on the ship. These bonuses apply only to the first claim of each treasure item.
- 5Trading Companies: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.
- 6Gold Hoarders Treasure: This category includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
- 7Treasure Chests: These are locked chests sold to the Gold Hoarders. They can be found via maps, in Ancient Vaults, or randomly. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen (more valuable, found in The Devil's Roar), Valuable, and Cursed Chests. They emit a white glint.
- 8Artefacts: Smaller items found alone, in chests, or fortress vaults. They emit a golden glint and include trinkets, containers, and ornaments made of valuable materials.
