Learn how to find, carry, and sell all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves. Discover the mechanics of treasure hunting and maximize your gold and reputation gains.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found scattered on islands, within shipwrecks, floating in the sea, inside fort vaults, or obtained from various enemies. Look for a distinct glint or glow to spot treasure from a distance.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative at an Outpost. While carrying treasure, you cannot fight or use equipment. You can retrieve treasure from afar with a harpoon. Smaller treasures can be stored in Container Chests (up to 3 items) to hide their glow and simplify transport.
- 3Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance) values specific types of treasure. Selling treasure to the correct company yields Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value (if sailing as an Emissary).
- 4Treasure Types:
- 5Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes various Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Trinkets, Containers, Ornaments). Treasure Chests emit a white glint, while Artefacts emit a golden glint.
Tips
- Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates.
- Picking up treasure relevant to your Trading Company Emissary will increase your Emissary Grade Reputation.
- Container Chests can hide the glow, glint, and sound of the treasure within, making them useful for stealthy deliveries.
