Discover the ultimate guide to treasure hunting in Sea of Thieves. Learn about all treasure types, where to find them, and how to maximize your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Treasures are essential Transportable Items in Sea of Thieves that players can discover, carry, and sell to various Trading Companies. Selling treasure yields valuable Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value, crucial for progressing in the game.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be acquired through various means, including dedicated Voyages offered by Trading Companies, random discoveries on Islands, floating in Barrels of Plenty or Shipwrecks, within Fort Vaults, or taken from enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.
- 2Identifying Treasure: Each Treasure Item emits a distinct colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify its type from a distance.
- 3Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to the respective Company Representative for a payout. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment or resource items. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from afar.
- 4Storing Treasure: Smaller treasure items can be placed inside Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items. This hides their glow, glint, or sound, making transportation and delivery easier.
- 5Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 6Emissary Bonuses: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained when these items are placed on the ship, with these increases awarded only on the first claim.
