What are Treasures?

Treasures are Transportable Items that can be found, carried, and sold to Trading Companies in exchange for Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value. They are the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in the game.

Finding Treasure:

  • Treasures can be found through specific Voyages offered by Trading Companies.
  • Random treasures can be discovered on Islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within Fort vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
  • All treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to spot them from a distance.

Carrying and Delivering Treasure:

  • Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative at an Outpost for a payout.
  • While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot use equipment or resource items and has limited mobility.
  • Treasures can be retrieved with a Harpoon.
  • Smaller treasures can be placed in Container Chests to hide their glow and make transport easier. Container Chests can hold up to 3 small treasure items.
  • Treasure dropped on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates.

Types of Treasure:

Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them: The Gold Hoarders, the Order of Souls, and the Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.

  • Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (small trinkets, containers, or ornaments). Treasure Chests emit a White Glint, while Regular Artefacts emit a Golden Glint.
