Master the seas of Sea of Thieves by learning about all types of treasure, including chests, artifacts, and trade goods. Discover how to find, transport, and sell them for maximum profit.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through various means, including Voyages, exploring islands, shipwrecks, floating barrels, and defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, making them visible from a distance.
  2. 2
Transporting Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to its respective Trading Company representative. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so. Smaller treasures can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items and hide their glow. Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates.
  3. 3
Selling Treasure: Treasure must be delivered to the correct Trading Company representative at an Outpost. Each company values specific types of treasure. Selling relevant treasure as an Emissary for that company will grant increased rewards and Emissary Grade Reputation.

Types of Treasure:

  • Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artifacts (Trinkets, Containers, Ornaments). These emit a white glint (chests) or golden glint (artifacts).
  • Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily includes Bounty Skulls, which are sold to the Order of Souls for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
  • Merchant Alliance Treasure: Consists of Trade Goods (Plants, Minerals, Spices, Sugar) and Exotic Goods (Flowers, Rum, Silks, Spices). These are found in crates and sold to the Merchant Alliance.
  • Athena's Fortune Treasure: High-value items like Athena's Chests and Athena's Artifacts, exclusively sold to the Pirate Legend representative at The Athena's Fortune Hideout.
Tips
  • Use a Harpoon to retrieve treasure from afar.
  • Container Chests can hide treasure's glow and make transport easier.
  • Be aware of the time limit for treasure sinking in water.
  • Prioritize selling treasure relevant to your current Emissary flag for maximum gains.
