Learn how to find, carry, and sell various treasures in Sea of Thieves. Discover different treasure types, their locations, and how they contribute to your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Treasures are essential Transportable Items in Sea of Thieves that players can find, carry, and sell to Trading Companies. Selling treasures earns players Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through Voyages offered by Trading Company Representatives at Outposts, or discovered randomly across the Sea of Thieves. Look for islands, barrels of plenty, shipwrecks, fort vaults, or loot taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken. Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, making them visible from afar.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Each treasure item must be carried by hand to its respective Company Representative. A pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items, to hide their glow and simplify transport.
- 3Treasure Persistence: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 4Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and collecting relevant treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation. Additional Reputation is gained by placing these items on your ship. These bonuses are awarded only upon the first claim of a treasure item.
- 5Selling Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that purchases them. The main companies are the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.
Types of Treasure:
- Gold Hoarders Treasure: Sold to the Gold Hoarders for Gold and Reputation. Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Regular, Ashen, Coral, Shipwrecked). Treasure Chests emit a White Glint, while Artefacts emit a Golden Glint.
Tips
- Use Container Chests to carry multiple small treasures and hide their glow.
- Pay attention to the glint and glow to identify treasure types from a distance.
- Prioritize selling treasure relevant to your current Emissary status for increased rewards.
