Discover all about Treasure in Sea of Thieves. Learn about mechanics, types of treasure, how to find and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through various means: completing Voyages, exploring Islands, searching Shipwrecks, opening Vaults in Forts, or by defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. All treasure items emit a distinct colored glint or glow, allowing players to spot them from a distance.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative at an Outpost. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment. Smaller treasures can be stored in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items and hide their glow. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates.
- 3Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company values specific types of treasure. Representatives at Outposts accept these items for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value. Selling relevant treasure while sailing as an Emissary increases your Emissary Grade, granting further rewards.
- 4Types of Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company they belong to: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, they can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.
- 5Gold Hoarders Treasure: This category includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Treasure Chests are locked containers found via maps, in Ancient Vaults, or randomly. They emit a white glint and come in various forms: Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed. Artefacts are smaller items like trinkets and ornaments that emit a golden glint.
