Learn about all the Treasure types in Sea of Thieves, including chests and artifacts. Discover how to find, carry, and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through specific Voyages offered by Trading Companies, or discovered randomly. Look for a distinct colored glint or glow from a distance to spot treasure. It can be found on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within Fort vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Treasure items must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot use equipment or resource items and has limited mobility. Dropping the treasure allows for full control. Harpoons can also be used to retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller treasures can be stored in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items and hide their glow.
- 3Treasure Persistence: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 4Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and picking up relevant treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation. This bonus is applied when the treasure is claimed for the first time and placed on the ship.
- 5Types of Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that buys them. The three main companies are the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasures can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.
- 6Gold Hoarders Treasure: This includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Treasure Chests are locked and sold to the Gold Hoarders. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, double price), Valuable, and Cursed Treasure Chests. Artefacts are smaller items found throughout the seas or in fortress vaults, emitting a golden glint.
Tips
