Learn how to find, carry, and sell various types of treasure in Sea of Thieves. Discover different treasure types, their locations, and how they benefit your pirate crew.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through various means:
- Completing Voyages for Trading Companies.
- 2Exploring Islands, Shipwrecks, and Barrels of Plenty.
- 3Defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.
- 4Opening Vaults in Forts.
- 5Finding them randomly scattered across the Sea of Thieves.
- 6Identifying Treasure: All treasure items emit a distinct colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify their type from a distance.
- 7Carrying Treasure: A single pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from afar. Smaller treasures can be stored in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items and hide their emitted glow.
- 8Treasure Persistence: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water will sink after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 9Emissary Bonus: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and collecting treasure relevant to that company grants Emissary Grade Reputation. Placing these items on your ship before selling them provides an additional reputation increase. This bonus is applied only on the first claim of a treasure item.
- 10Trading Companies: Each Trading Company (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance) values specific types of treasure. Representatives at every Outpost accept these treasures for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
- 11Types of Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company they belong to. Within the main companies, treasures can also be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.
- 12Gold Hoarders Treasure: This category includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts.
- Treasure Chests: Locked chests sold to the Gold Hoarders. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, sell for more), Valuable, and Cursed Chests. They emit a White Glint.
- 13Artefacts: Smaller items like trinkets and containers made of valuable metals and gems. They emit a Golden Glint and are found throughout the Sea of Thieves or within Fortress Vaults.
