Discover all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, from chests to artifacts. Learn how to find, carry, and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found randomly on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken. Voyages also lead to treasure.
  2. 2
Identifying Treasure: All treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify their type from a distance.
  3. 3
Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while carrying treasure. The treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from afar.
  4. 4
Storing Treasure: Smaller treasure items can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items, hiding their glow and making transport easier.
  5. 5
Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
  6. 6
Emissary Value: Picking up treasure relevant to your Trading Company Emissary will increase your Emissary Grade Reputation. Additional reputation is gained when the treasure is delivered to your ship.
  7. 7
Selling Treasure: Treasure must be delivered to the respective Trading Company Representative at an Outpost for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Types of Treasure:

  • Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Regular, Ashen, Coral, etc.). These emit a white glint (chests) or golden glint (artefacts).
  • Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily includes Voodoo Dolls and Bounty Skulls. These emit a purple glint.
  • Merchant Alliance Treasure: Includes Trade Goods (Rum, Silk, Spices, Sugar, Gunpowder, Flowers) and Animals (Chickens, Pigs, Snakes). These emit a green glint.
Tips
  • Always be aware of your surroundings when carrying treasure, as you are vulnerable.
  • Use harpoons to quickly grab treasure from a distance, especially when under pressure.
  • Container Chests are invaluable for transporting multiple small treasures efficiently.
  • Prioritize selling treasure relevant to your current Emissary Company to maximize gains.
  • Different treasure types have different values and are sought by specific Trading Companies.
