Learn about all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, including chests, artifacts, and more. Discover how to find, transport, and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold and Reputation.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found in various locations, including islands, shipwrecks, barrels of plenty, and within vaults in forts. It can also be obtained from defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken.
- 2Identifying Treasure: All treasure items have a colored glint or glow, making them visible from afar.
- 3Transporting Treasure: Players can carry one treasure item at a time. While carrying treasure, a pirate cannot fight or use equipment. Treasure can be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can be used to retrieve treasure from a distance. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests, which can hold up to 3 items and hide their glow.
- 4Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer.
- 5Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary and collecting relevant treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation. This bonus is awarded upon the first claim of a treasure item.
- 6Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company has Representatives at Outposts who accept specific types of treasure for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Types of Treasure:
- Gold Hoarders Treasure: Includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, Ghostly). Treasure Chests emit a white glint. Artefacts emit a golden glint.
- Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily includes Bounty Skulls, which emit a purple glint.
- Merchant Alliance Treasure: Consists of Trade Goods (Plants, Minerals, Spices, Silks, Rum, Cannonballs) and Animals (Chickens, Pigs, Snakes, Foxes). These items have unique glows or appearances depending on their type.
