Treasures are Transportable Items in Sea of Thieves that players can find, carry, and sell to Trading Companies. Selling treasure yields Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

The primary way to earn Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves is through Treasure. Each Trading Company has Representatives at every Outpost who accept specific types of Treasure for rewards. These Companies also offer Voyages, which are Quests that lead players to these valuable items. Treasure can be found randomly across the Sea of Thieves, including on Islands, in Barrels of Plenty, Shipwrecks, Fort Vaults, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken. All Treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to spot them from a distance.

When carrying Treasure, players cannot fight or use equipment. The Treasure must be dropped to regain full control. Harpoons can retrieve Treasure from afar. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests, which hold up to three items and can hide their emitted glow. Treasure left on land remains until interacted with, but treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates which float longer. Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant Treasure, with additional gains for placing it on the ship. These reputation increases are awarded only upon the first claim of a Treasure item.

Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that purchases them. Within the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance, Treasure is further classified into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, and Ghostly variants based on their origin.
