Quest Items are crucial components used in Sea of Thieves' Tall Tales and special Voyages. These items can take various forms, including Keys, Totems, Medallions, Trinkets, Skulls, or Equipment. Most Quest Items cannot be sold for gold, with a few exceptions.

Types of Quest Items

Equippable Quest Items

These are unique Equipment items or tools acquired during specific Tall Tales. They function as modified Compasses, Spyglasses, Lanterns, or other tools necessary for puzzle-solving within the Tall Tales. They are accessed via the Map Radial Inventory and are only usable during their respective Tall Tales.

• Enchanted Compass — Acquired during The Cursed Rogue Tall Tale. Points to Captain Briggsy.
• Enchanted Lantern — Acquired during The Fate of the Morningstar and The Seabound Soul Tall Tales. Allows players to see past events and follow ghostly footsteps.
• Carved Plank — Acquired during The Legendary Storyteller Tall Tale. These function as Maps with scribbled scenery and holes representing landmarks, with coordinates on the back.
• Flame of Souls — A Flame of Fate equipped to a lantern for use with braziers, torches, and lanterns in the Sea of the Damned.
• Golden Wayfinder — A Compass used during Wayfinder Voyages, always pointing towards hidden Torn Map Parchments.
• Jack's Compass — A Compass that guides players towards their greatest desires within Tall Tales.
• Morningstar Set — Clothing items found during the Revenge of the Morningstar Tall Tale, wearable during the quest.
• Lover's Compass — Acquired during the Wild Rose Tall Tale. Points to the locations of Rose and George.
• The Shroudbreaker — A Legendary Artifact tied to the Helm of the Ship, used to sail into The Devil's Shroud.
• Sudds' Ancient Spyglass — Acquired during the Stars of a Thief Tall Tale. Allows players to see constellations even during daytime and through storms.
• Trapmaker's Spyglass — Acquired during The Art of the Trickster Tall Tale. Used to solve the Trickster's puzzles.

Transportable Quest Items

These are Trinket-like items carried around for puzzle-solving or for turning in to complete Tall Tales.

Keys

Totem Keys

These Totem Keys are found as part of The Shroudbreaker (Quest), Stars of a Thief, and The Art of the Trickster Tall Tales. Each quest provides one Totem randomly, which opens a hidden Vault on a specific Large Island:

• Boar Totem — Opens a hidden Vault on Devil's Ridge.
• Crab Totem — Opens a hidden Vault on Uncharted Island (N-13).
• Moon Totem — Opens a hidden Vault on Crescent Isle.
• Scarab Totem — Opens a hidden Vault on Crook's Hollow.
• Snake Totem — Opens a hidden Vault on Mermaid's Hideaway.
• Shark Totem — Opens a hidden Vault on Kraken's Fall.

Medallions

These coin-like Medallions are used as Keys for opening Treasure rooms in Vaults.
