Discover all types of treasure in Sea of Thieves, from chests to artifacts. Learn how to find, carry, and sell them to Trading Companies for Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found randomly on islands, floating in barrels or shipwrecks, within fortress vaults, or obtained from defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Specific Voyages also lead to treasure.
- 2Identifying Treasure: All treasure items emit a colored glint or glow, allowing players to identify their type from a distance.
- 3Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company Representative. A pirate can only carry one item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so. Dropping the treasure allows for full control. Harpoons can also retrieve treasure from afar.
- 4Storing Treasure: Smaller treasure items can be placed in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items, hiding their glow and making transport easier.
- 5Treasure Lifespan: Treasure left on land remains until interacted with. Treasure dropped in water sinks after approximately 5 minutes, with the exception of Trade Good Crates.
- 6Emissary Value: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary grants Emissary Grade Reputation when picking up relevant treasure. Additional Reputation is gained when the treasure is placed on the ship.
- 7Trading Companies: Each Trading Company values specific types of treasure. Representatives at every Outpost accept these items for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Types of Treasure:
- Gold Hoarders Treasure: Items sold to the Gold Hoarders. This includes various Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Trinkets, Containers, Ornaments). Treasure Chests emit a white glint, while Artefacts emit a golden glint.
Tips
- Use the glint and glow to spot treasure from a distance.
- Container Chests are useful for transporting multiple small treasures.
- Be aware of the treasure's sink time if dropped in water.
- Prioritize selling treasure relevant to your current Trading Company Emissary status for maximum gains.
