Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional investigations, and character interactions to guide you through the early stages of the game.
Walkthrough
- 1The 'Charon' Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase, camera, pistol), a Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, examine its handle by rotating it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears and press X. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate) and examine the flyer on the desk (Flyer).
- 3Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk for randomized ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable objects can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- 4Exit the Ship & Speak to Johannes van der Berg: Climb onto the dock using Triangle. Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To progress, select: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', and finally, 'Goodbye.' Note that choosing specific dialogue options locks out others.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign. Ascend the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 6Speak to Robert Throgmorton: To progress, select: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', and finally, 'I'll be going.' Optional questions can be asked, but selecting 'I'll be going.' ends the conversation permanently.
- 7Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is optional and does not add to your casebook but grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 8Evidence in Lifeboat: Inspect the Lifeboat Name ('TITANIA'), examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate), and collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. Be quick when examining the diving helmet as it drains sanity.
- 9Complete Optional Investigation: Return to Robert Throgmorton with Albert's Will to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
- If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. Use this ammo sparingly as it depletes quickly.
- Consider investing your free Skill Point (if applicable via DLC) into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Reload your pistol by equipping it via the L1 weapon wheel and pressing Square.
- Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials. Areas with more loot may indicate greater danger.
- The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewards extra XP and lore.
