Walkthrough

    The 'Charon' Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun before firing.

    Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the trophy plate (a strange fish mounted on the wall) and examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.

    Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable contents are randomized and can be re-looted after returning to the area.

    Exit the Boat: Climb onto the dock by pressing Triangle.

    Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Select dialogue options to advance the conversation: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Note that choosing specific dialogue options can lock out others.

    Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit. Ascend the stairs to begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.

    Speak with Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.".

Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat

  1. Location: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  2. Evidence: Inspect the lifeboat name "TITANIA", examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and look at the front faceplate), and collect "Albert Throgmorton's will" from a seat inside the lifeboat. Be cautious as looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
  3. Reward: Completing this optional investigation grants an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
  • If you purchased the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use these sparingly as they deplete quickly.
  • Consider putting your free Skill Point (if applicable) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
