Follow our guide to complete Jacob's Plea (Darling of Fortune) in The Sinking City 2. Learn about evidence, conversations, and optional objectives.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The case begins on the 'Charon' ship. Collect your belongings from the table, which include the 'Letter from J. van der Berg', your 'Camera', and your 'Pistol'.
  2. 2
Examine the Pistol by rotating it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle and pressing X. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  3. 3
Use the Camera to take a photo of the mounted fish on the wall (Additional Evidence).
  4. 4
Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of the table (Additional Evidence).
  5. 5
Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock using Triangle.
  6. 6
Speak with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue options to advance are: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and "Goodbye.". Be aware that selecting "I need somewhere to stay" closes off other dialogue branches.
  7. 7
Proceed north along the pier to a sign with directions. Turn right towards the bar and exit.
  8. 8
Climb the stairs to initiate a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance are: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.".

Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat

  1. To access this optional area, return to the sign with directions. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  2. Inspect the lifeboat's name: 'TITANIA'.
  3. Examine the 'Diving Helmet'. Rotate it and search the front faceplate. Be mindful that prolonged examination drains sanity.
  4. Find 'Albert Throgmorton's will' on one of the seats. You may need to climb into the lifeboat using Triangle.
  5. Returning Albert's will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an additional conversation. Completing this optional investigation yields 140 XP.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) is powerful but consumes ammunition rapidly. Save its clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing your first Skill Point into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. Their contents reset upon leaving and returning to the area. Be cautious, as larger amounts of loot may indicate a more dangerous area.
  • Completing the main objectives provides progression.
  • Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
