Complete walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional investigations, and NPC interactions.
Walkthrough
- 1On the "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect the following key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg (found in the briefcase), the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the Pistol, examine its handle until an "eyeball" symbol appears and press X. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use the Camera to photograph the trophy plate (a strange fish) on the wall. Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
- 3Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable contents are randomized and can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- 4Speak to Johannes van der Berg: Exit the boat by climbing onto the dock (press Triangle). Initiate a conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing "Goodbye" locks out further dialogue options.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign pointing to a bar and an exit. Turn right towards the exit and go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 6Speak to Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select the dialogue options: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.". Other dialogue branches are optional.
- 7Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: Return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is an optional investigation that does not add to your casebook but grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 8Evidence at Lifeboat: Inspect the "TITANIA" name on the Lifeboat. Examine the Diving Helmet, rotating it to find a search prompt on the front faceplate. Collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat inside the lifeboat (press Triangle to climb inside). Be cautious, as looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
- 9Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding Albert's Will, return to Robert Throgmorton to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
- If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and .45 ACP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip.
- Consider putting a free Skill Point (if obtained from DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.
- When examining the Diving Helmet at the lifeboat, do not hold it for too long to avoid significant sanity loss.
