An inside job

Begin by examining your belongings on the table in front of you on the 'Charon' ship. This includes taking your briefcase, which contains the Letter from J. van der Berg, and collecting the Camera.

To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun before use.

Use your camera to take a picture of the strange fish mounted on the wall for the "Photo of a trophy plate" evidence.

Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings for the "Flyer" evidence.

Loot the locker to the right of the desk for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized and can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.

Exit the boat by climbing onto the dock (Triangle).

Speak with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing other options will lock you out of certain dialogue branches.

Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit.

Climb the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Select the following dialogue to advance: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.".

Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path and then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.

Inspect the Lifeboat Name "TITANIA".

Examine the Diving Helmet. Rotate it and search the front faceplate. Be quick, as looking at it drains sanity.

Collect "Albert Throgmorton's will" from a seat inside the lifeboat. You may need to climb inside (Triangle).

Returning Albert's Will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an optional conversation.
