Walkthrough

    On the Ship ('Charon'): This is your first investigation location. Collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), the Camera (usable item to take pictures), and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun (equip and press Square) before firing.

    Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the Photo of a trophy plate (a strange fish mounted on the wall). Examine the Flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.

    Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects provide ammunition and crafting materials and reset if you leave and return to the area.

    Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock (press Triangle). You will automatically start a conversation. To advance the game, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", "Goodbye.". Choosing "I need somewhere to stay" progresses the game and locks out optional dialogue branches.

    Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier. Turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and exit. Go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", "I'll be going.".

Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat

  1. Accessing the Lifeboat: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  2. Evidence: Inspect the Lifeboat Name "TITANIA". Rotate the Diving Helmet and search its front faceplate (be mindful of sanity drain). Find Albert Throgmorton's will on one of the seats. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to collect some items.
  3. Rewards: Clearing this optional investigation site grants an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton. None of the evidence here is required for the main casebook.
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use this initial clip sparingly as ammo is scarce.
  • Consider putting any free Skill Point into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. The amount of loot may indicate the danger level of the area.
