There are 10 main ones, plus a bonus eleventh note. You can start hunting for them pretty much anytime after you first meet Victor Olmstead at the Devil's Reef Hotel. All the notes you collect will be tucked away in your 'Documents' section under the 'City Lore' tab. Think of them as extra flavor text that really fleshes out the world and the stories of the people who lived here.

Now, these notes aren't tied to any specific cases, but they offer some really interesting backstory. The tricky part? The game doesn't give you any direct hints where to find them. You'll need to keep an eye out for buildings with a crooked H-shaped sign, which means they're accessible. Sometimes, you'll find spots on sunken roads with a pier and a hole in the wall. Just a heads-up, these locations can sometimes have wylebeasts lurking inside, so be ready!

01. For your eyes only

You'll find this note in a flooded factory on Sunset Avenue in Salvation Harbor. It's located between Marsh Avenue and Maple Lane. Once you're inside, head up to the upper floor. The note is chillingly placed on a pillow next to a dead body on a desk.

After years of faithful service I cannot keep silent. I have noticed Mr. C and your lovely wife conspire after dark when you are away on business. Were I you, I would watch them.

I know this city well, dearest Mr. O, and I do not wish you to be harmed due to your admirable selflessness alone.

02. I accept fire

This one's a bit grim and might be connected to the final case, Into the Depths. You'll find it in the basement of an office building on Bourbon Road, between Darwin Street and Yellow King Avenue, in western Reed Heights. Look for a human skeleton amidst ashes with gas cans nearby. No wylebeasts here, thankfully.

I used to be a skeptic, a man of rational thought. But one meeting with Father Nicholas changed everything.

He led me into a Zetetic room below his church. Laying there, near a Monolith wall, I felt myself falling into an endless pit underneath the city. There, at the very bottom, I met the gaze of something ancient, something cold and alien...

...it broke me. I cannot think. I cannot eat. I cannot write about live like this.

Father Nicholas told me a way out. Fire will cleanse my body, marshal me into the next era and burn away those terrible memories.

I was not a man of faith once.

But now, I accept fire.

03. Instructions for the needy

Head to Whisper Street in Grimhaven Bay, between Central Street and Deepshore Road. This flooded office building is also where you'll find Omega-Two during the side case Defunct Brain Cylinders. Once inside, look for the room on the right. The note is on the desk, hidden under a craft item.

If you feel you can't stand the hunger, pain, and diseases pf this world, accept my gift. The blue pill you've got in your hand is my answer to your prayers.

Take it and you'll be fed. Take it and the pain will go away. The next hour of your life will be blessed.

04. Nowhere to run

This note is in an office building on Hubert Avenue in Coverside, between Asher Road and Roosevelt Street, just east of the Oakmont Police Department. Go to the second floor; the notebook is on a middle desk facing the front of the building.

There is no point running away. That blasted hollow-eyed freak always catches up, with his grin, his long black coat, and those thin crooked fingers clutching a gun. He's got a bullet with my name on it. I dodged it once. There won't be a second time. Kay, help me.

05. Ocean

You'll find this note on the top floor of an apartment building on Derry Lane near Asher Road in Coverside, just before the danger zone barricade. Go to the very end of the apartment, and the notebook will be on a desk.

What if the ocean isn't just a mass of water? What if there is an intelligence to it?

There has to be a reason the water has taken such a toll on us. Perhaps we have angered it?

This note is located in an office building on Landing Avenue in Coverside, across the park from St. Mary's Hospital. Head to the second floor, and you'll find the notebook on the desk behind the green locker.
