Walkthrough
  1. 1
Upon arriving on the "Charon" ship, collect your belongings from the table. This includes your Letter from J. van der Berg, your Camera, and your Pistol (which requires examination of the handle with an "eyeball" symbol). You also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  2. 2
Use your camera to take a picture of the mounted fish on the wall (Additional Evidence).
  3. 3
Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings (Additional Evidence).
  4. 4
Loot the locker to the right of the desk.
  5. 5
Exit the ship by pressing Triangle to climb onto the dock.
  6. 6
Speak with Johannes van der Berg. To progress, select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing "I need somewhere to stay" locks out other dialogue branches.
  7. 7
Proceed north along the pier to a sign pointing to a bar and an exit. Turn right towards the exit.
  8. 8
As you ascend the stairs, you will begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To progress, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.". Other dialogue options are optional.
  9. 9
    Optional Investigation: Lifeboat Titania
  10. 10
Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  11. 11
    Inspect the Lifeboat Name "TITANIA".
  12. 12
Examine the Diving Helmet, rotating it to find the front faceplate and searching it. Be mindful of sanity drain while examining the helmet.
  13. 13
Collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat inside the lifeboat.
  14. 14
You can return to Robert Throgmorton with the will to unlock an additional conversation.
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. They reset when you leave and return to the area.
  • The Lifeboat Titania investigation is optional but rewards 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Completing the initial objectives and optional investigations provides XP and unlocks further dialogue and story progression.
