Full walkthrough for The Sinking City 2's Oldgrove West (2) section, detailing key evidence, optional tasks, and enemy encounters to help you progress.
Walkthrough
- 1Investigate the "Charon" Ship: Upon arriving in the city, the ship you are on serves as your first investigation location. Collect all key evidence: your belongings on the table (briefcase, camera, pistol), a photo of a trophy plate, and a flyer.
- 2Examine Your Belongings: Pick up your briefcase to obtain the 'Letter from J. van der Berg'. The camera is a usable item for taking pictures. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press 'X' to examine it. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun by holding L1 and selecting the gun, then pressing Square.
- 3Collect Additional Evidence: Use your camera to photograph the fish mounted on the wall. Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings table.
- 4Lootable Objects: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects, marked with a specific symbol, provide ammunition and crafting materials and can be repeatedly looted after areas are re-entered.
- 5Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock (Triangle). Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance, select dialogue options related to your problem, Robert Throgmorton, and finding a place to stay. Conclude the conversation by saying goodbye.
- 6Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit and a bar. Ascend the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 7Discuss with Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select dialogue options concerning his son's fate, the Innsmouthers, the visions, your ability to find Albert, and Robert's Request. Conclude the conversation by selecting 'I'll be going.'
- 8Optional: Investigate the Titania Lifeboat: Return to the sign and go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is an optional investigation that rewards 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 9Collect Optional Evidence: Inspect the lifeboat's name ('TITANIA'), examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate), and collect 'Albert Throgmorton's will' from a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle). Be cautious, as looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
- 10Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding the will, return to Robert Throgmorton to give him the document and unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
- Consider investing your initial Skill Point into 'Absolute Clarity' for a 5% XP bonus.
- The Submachine Gun (if obtained via DLC) consumes ammunition rapidly; save its initial clip for critical moments.
- Lootable containers may indicate the danger level of an area; abundant loot could mean tougher enemies.
- The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional and does not impact the main casebook, but provides valuable XP and lore.
- Be mindful of dialogue choices with NPCs, as some branches are lost once a conversation is concluded.
Completing the main objectives of this section progresses the story. Optional objectives, such as the Titania Lifeboat investigation, provide additional XP and can unlock further dialogue options.
