Learn how to find witnesses and gather crucial evidence in The Sinking City 2. Follow our walkthrough to uncover clues and progress through the investigation.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, examine its handle until an "eyeball" symbol appears and press X. Additional evidence includes a photo of a trophy plate (use your camera on the fish mounted on the wall) and a flyer on a desk. Lootable objects like lockers can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.
  2. 2
Exit the Ship and Speak to Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, climb onto the dock using Triangle. Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye." Be aware that choosing certain dialogue options will lock out others.
  3. 3
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier. Turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit. Ascend the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance the game include "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and "I'll be going."
  4. 4
Optional: Investigate the Titania Lifeboat: If you ask Robert Throgmorton about the lifeboat, return to the sign and go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is an optional investigation site that grants extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Collect the evidence: inspect the "TITANIA" nameplate, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate it and search the faceplate, but don't hold it too long due to sanity drain), and find Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat using Triangle.
  5. 5
Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding Albert's Will, return to Robert Throgmorton to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • The Necronomicon Edition or associated DLC includes a Submachine Gun and .45 ABP rounds, but it consumes ammo quickly. Save its initial clip for special occasions.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects reset when you leave and return to the area, allowing for repeated collection of ammunition and crafting materials.
  • Be mindful that lootable containers with a large amount of supplies may indicate an upcoming dangerous encounter.
  • Dialogue choices with NPCs can lock out other conversation branches, so choose wisely if you want to explore all dialogue options.
  • The Titania Lifeboat is an optional investigation; its evidence is not required for main case progression but offers rewards.
Completing the main objectives of finding witnesses and gathering evidence will progress the main story. Optional investigations, like the Titania Lifeboat, provide additional XP and unlock further dialogue opportunities.
