Guide to completing "Silence Is Golden" in The Sinking City 2. Learn about key evidence, optional items, and character interactions to progress through the game.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
    On the "Charon" Ship:
    • Collect your belongings from the table. This is key evidence.
  2. 2
Pick up the Letter from J. van der Berg, which is obtained by taking your briefcase.
  3. 3
Find the Camera. This is a usable item for taking pictures as evidence.
  4. 4
Locate the Pistol. Examine it by rotating it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle and pressing X. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that the gun is not loaded and requires reloading (L1 for weapon wheel, Square to reload).
  5. 5
Optional Evidence: Use the camera to take a photo of the Photo of a trophy plate (a strange fish mounted on the wall).
  6. 6
Optional Evidence: Examine the Flyer on the desk to the left of the table where you collected your belongings.
  7. 7
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized and can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
  8. 8
    After Leaving the Ship:
    • Climb onto the dock by pressing Triangle.
  9. 9
Speak with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and "Goodbye.". Note that choosing dialogue options closes off other conversation branches.
  10. 10
Proceed north along the pier to a sign. Turn right towards the exit and go up the stairs to meet Robert Throgmorton.
  11. 11
Speak with Robert Throgmorton. To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.". Again, dialogue choices can close off other branches.
  12. 12
    Titania Lifeboat (Optional Investigation):
    • Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  13. 13
Optional Evidence: Inspect the TITANIA name on the Lifeboat.
  14. 14
Optional Evidence: Examine the Diving Helmet. Rotate it, look at the front faceplate, and search. Be aware that looking at the helmet for too long will drain your sanity.
  15. 15
Optional Evidence: Find Albert Throgmorton's will on one of the seats. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to collect it.
  16. 16
Returning this will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you purchased the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammunition quickly; save its initial clip for a special occasion.
  • If you received a free Skill Point from DLC, it is recommended to invest it in the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% bonus XP.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. The amount of loot may indicate the danger level of the area.
  • The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewards extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  • When examining the Diving Helmet in the lifeboat, be mindful of your sanity.
  • Collecting all key evidence on the "Charon" ship and completing the main objectives will progress the story.
  • Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation provides additional XP and an extra conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
