Alright, let's track down Claude Hamilton. This part of the 'Breaking News' side case kicks off after you've dealt with Deal with the Devil and are heading to the Oakmont Chronicle during Self Defense. Make sure you've also finished Through the Looking Glass and chatted with Robert Throgmorton after Nosedive – those are prerequisites. ### The Oakmont Chronicle First up, Helen wants you to dig through the editor's office on the second floor of the Oakmont Chronicle. Have a look at the skull on the chair, the map on the wall, the note by the window, the editor's keys, and the typewriter. You'll find a paper called 'The Coverside Tiger'. It mentions a rumor about a tiger in Coverside, possibly a skinwalker, and that a man named Claude Hamilton claims to have seen it before being taken away by doctors. This clue points you towards the Hospital of Saint Mary for more info on the accident. ### Hospital of Saint Mary Head to the hospital and use the archives. Search for 'Patients', 'After the flood', and 'Coverside'. This will give you a document titled 'Claude's Whereabouts', which states Claude Hamilton was taken to the asylum with zoophobia, claiming a tiger attacked him. Your next stop is the Oakmont State Asylum. ### Asylum At the asylum, ask the receptionist about the tiger victim. Claude is there, hiding behind the reception desk to the right. Talk to him. Claude is convinced a tiger is in the asylum, and you need to convince him otherwise. To do this, you'll need to find the source of the scratches on the floor and the loud roaring noises. Head downstairs; you'll find a wheelchair that's been scratching the floor. Keep going past Bethany Throgmorton's old room, and to the right, you'll find a boiler making the noise. Return to Claude and show him your findings. Once he's calmed down, he'll give you the address of the attack: southern Coverside, east from the crossroad of Lincoln St and Landing Ave. ### Abandoned Factory When you get to the abandoned factory, you'll find it's filled with KKK stuff. Check the robes by the entrance, the hoods on the floor, and the torture tools on the table. Use your Mind's Eye on the bloodstains and handbag on the mattresses – you'll see a vision of Claude beating a woman to prove his loyalty to the clan. Grab the Weird Unearthly statue from on top of the crates. Downstairs, in what looks like a meeting room, you'll find a 'Klansman speech plan' on the altar. It mentions a new member, Claude Hamilton. There's an illusory wall hiding a large room with statues. Use your Mind's Eye on them to see visions of strange idols. The path forward is blocked by a mysterious barrier. On your way back upstairs, watch out for 'a warning note' on some wooden boxes, mentioning the second floor is now closed. The door upstairs is already open, with claw marks and the lock nearby. Examine both sides of the lock. Next to a hole in the floor, you can examine a megaphone and a dark stain. Grab an Otherworldly Figurine from a shelf. You'll also find a claw on the desk. Using your Mind's Eye here shows a vision of a man using a claw-like tool to scratch the table, and the claw breaking off. You can also examine the shoe polish can, which triggers a retrocognition sequence. The retrocognition shows: 1. A man entering the door upstairs. 2. A man preparing upstairs at the desk. 3. KKK members bringing a prisoner in downstairs. 4. KKK members fleeing. With both the Otherworldly Statue and the Otherworldly Figurine, head back to the basement behind the illusory wall. Place them on their pedestals, and the barrier will disappear. An Acheronian will appear. (Pro tip: You can make this fight easier by running to the top of the stairs and climbing onto the boxes). Once the path is clear, you'll find a stone altar with boxes of ammunition and a 'Moss-covered manuscript'. This manuscript talks about a 'Whispering in the dark' and asks for signs and knowledge. The text mentions growing gardens and burning them, building boats and letting them sink, going into the waters and coming back, and loving and sacrificing loved ones. It ends with 'we open all doors, because you are the Door and the Key and what is beyond!' Now, you need to find more info on the 'Real Coverside Tiger'. During the retrocognition, the 'tiger' didn't want to be caught by the police again. This leads you to the Oakmont Police Department for the next step.
