Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional investigations, and NPC interactions to guide you through the initial stages of the game.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
On the 'Charon' Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect the following key evidence:
    • Your belongings on the table (required to leave).
  2. 2
Briefcase (contains Letter from J. van der Berg).
  3. 3
Camera (usable item for taking pictures as evidence).
  4. 4
Pistol (examine the handle by rotating until an 'eyeball' symbol appears and press X). You receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  5. 5
    Additional Evidence on Ship:
    • Photo of a trophy plate (use camera on the fish mounted on the wall).
  6. 6
Flyer (examine on the desk to the left of your belongings).
  7. 7
Lootables: Look for the lootable symbol to find lockers containing randomized ammunition and crafting materials. These can be reset and looted repeatedly.
  8. 8
Exit the Boat: Climb onto the dock using Triangle.
  9. 9
Talk to Johannes van der Berg: Engage in conversation. To advance, select: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', 'Goodbye.'. Note that selecting 'I need somewhere to stay' locks out some optional dialogue.
  10. 10
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign. Turn right towards the bar/exit and go up the stairs.
  11. 11
Talk to Robert Throgmorton: To advance, select: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', 'I'll be going.'. Optional questions can be asked before selecting 'I'll be going.'.

Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat

  1. Access: Return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  2. Evidence:
    • TITANIA (Inspect the Lifeboat Name).
    • Diving Helmet (rotate and examine the front faceplate). Be aware that looking at the helmet drains sanity.
    • Albert Throgmorton's will (on one of the seats).
  3. Reward: Completing this optional investigation grants an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
  • If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use these sparingly as they deplete quickly.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into 'Absolute Clarity' (Mind skill) for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Reloading your gun: Equip it via the weapon wheel (hold L1) and press Square.
  • Lootable objects reset when you leave and return to the area.
  • When examining the Diving Helmet, do not hold it for too long to avoid significant sanity loss.
Completing the 'A Frosty Welcome' mission and its associated investigations will progress the main story and unlock further dialogue and opportunities. The optional Titania Lifeboat investigation provides bonus XP and additional dialogue with Robert Throgmorton. Additional XP is awarded for collecting all evidence in a location. Special editions may grant a Submachine Gun and a Skill Point. The 'Absolute Clarity' skill provides a permanent XP boost.
