Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional investigations, and NPC interactions to guide you through the early stages of the game.
Walkthrough
- 1'Charon' Ship Investigation: Upon arriving in the city, the ship you're on serves as your first investigation site. Collect key evidence: your belongings on the table, the Letter from J. van der Berg (found in the briefcase), the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You'll receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun (equip it via L1, then press Square).
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish trophy on the wall. Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings. Loot the locker to the right of the desk for random ammunition and crafting materials. These lootable objects can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- 3Exiting the Ship & Meeting Johannes van der Berg: After collecting evidence, climb onto the dock using Triangle. You'll automatically start a conversation with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue options to advance the game are: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', and 'Goodbye.' Choosing 'I need somewhere to stay' progresses the main quest.
- 4Finding Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier. Turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and an exit. As you go up the stairs, you'll meet Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue options to advance the game are: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', and 'I'll be going.'
- 5Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: To access this optional area, return to the sign. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect the additional evidence: inspect the 'TITANIA' nameplate, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate it and look at the front faceplate; prolonged inspection drains sanity), and pick up 'Albert Throgmorton's will' from a seat. You need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) for some evidence. Completing this optional investigation grants 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
- If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and .45 ACP rounds. Use this ammo sparingly as it depletes quickly.
- Consider investing a Skill Point into 'Absolute Clarity' (Mind skill) for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.
- The diving helmet in the Titania Lifeboat can drain your sanity if you look at it for too long.
