Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional investigations, and character interactions to guide you through the early stages of the game.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect the following key evidence:
    • Your belongings on the table (required to leave).
  2. 2
Letter from J. van der Berg: Found by taking the briefcase.
  3. 3
Camera: A usable item for taking pictures as evidence. Collect it by examining it until the eyeball symbol appears on the handle and pressing X. You receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  4. 4
Pistol: Collect by examining it until the eyeball symbol appears on the handle and pressing X. You receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
  5. 5
    Additional Evidence on the Ship:
    • Photo of a trophy plate: Use your camera to photograph the fish mounted on the wall.
  6. 6
Flyer: Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
  7. 7
Lootables: Search lockers and other lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) for ammunition and crafting materials. These reset upon leaving and returning to the area.
  8. 8
Conversation with Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, climb onto the dock (Triangle) and speak with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select: "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally, "Goodbye." Choosing other dialogue options will lock you out of further conversation chains with him.
  9. 9
Finding Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit. Go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  10. 10
Conversation with Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and finally, "I'll be going." Other dialogue options are optional.
  11. 11
Optional: Lifeboat Titania Investigation: Ask Robert Throgmorton about the lifeboat's location. Return to the sign pointing to the exit, go left down a path, and turn left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This investigation is optional but rewards 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
    • Evidence in the Lifeboat:
      • TITANIA: Inspect the Lifeboat Name.
  12. 12
Diving Helmet: Rotate and examine the front faceplate. Be aware that looking at the helmet drains sanity.
  13. 13
Albert Throgmorton's will: Found on one of the seats. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to collect it.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) uses bullets quickly; save its clip for important moments.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into "Absolute Clarity" for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials.
  • Be cautious when examining the Diving Helmet in the lifeboat, as it drains sanity.
Completing the "Charon" ship investigation and collecting all key evidence grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Lifeboat Titania investigation also grants 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
