Walkthrough
  1. 1
Upon arriving at the 'Charon' ship, which serves as your first investigation location, collect your belongings from the table. This includes your briefcase, which contains the Letter from J. van der Berg, and the Camera.
  2. 2
To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your weapon before use.
  3. 3
For additional evidence, use your camera to photograph the mounted fish on the wall and examine the flyer on the desk.
  4. 4
Lootable objects, marked with a specific symbol, can be found throughout the area, including a locker to the right of the desk. These objects provide ammunition and crafting materials and reset upon leaving and returning to the area.
  5. 5
After leaving the ship, you will automatically start a conversation with Johannes van der Berg by climbing onto the dock. Select dialogue options to advance the conversation: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.".
  6. 6
Proceed north along the pier to a sign pointing to a bar and an exit. Turn right and go up the stairs to initiate a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  7. 7
During your conversation with Robert Throgmorton, select the following to advance the game: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.".
  8. 8
To undertake the optional investigation at the Titania Lifeboat: return to the sign, go left down a path, and turn left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  9. 9
Inside the lifeboat, inspect the 'TITANIA' name, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate it and look at the front faceplate), and collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. Be cautious as prolonged examination of the diving helmet can drain sanity.
  10. 10
Returning Albert's will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an additional conversation.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun and .45 ACP rounds are provided if you own the Necronomicon Edition or associated DLC. Use these sparingly as bullets are scarce.
  • Consider investing the free Skill Point (if DLC is owned) into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable contents are randomized and can be repeatedly looted. Larger supplies may indicate a more dangerous area.
  • The Titania Lifeboat is an optional investigation that provides extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton, but its evidence is not required for case progression.
Collecting all evidence in a location before concluding a case grants an additional 140 XP. The Titania Lifeboat optional investigation yields an extra 140 XP.
