Follow our detailed walkthrough for The Sinking City's 'A Frosty Welcome' mission, including key evidence, optional objectives, and NPC interactions.
Walkthrough
- 1The 'Charon' Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect the following key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the 'Letter from J. van der Berg' (found in the briefcase), the 'Camera', and your 'Pistol'. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the 'Photo of a trophy plate' (a strange fish on the wall) and examine the 'Flyer' on the desk.
- 3Lootables: You can find lootable objects like lockers, which can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.
- 4Talk to Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, climb onto the dock (Triangle) and speak with Johannes van der Berg. Select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and "Goodbye." Choosing these advances the game and locks out other dialogue branches.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit. Go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 6Talk to Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going." Other dialogue options are optional.
- 7Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: Return to the sign from step 4. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect the following additional evidence: Inspect the 'TITANIA' name on the lifeboat, examine the 'Diving Helmet' (rotate and look at the front faceplate), and pick up 'Albert Throgmorton's will' from a seat. Be quick when examining the diving helmet as it drains sanity. Climbing inside the lifeboat (Triangle) is required for some evidence.
- 8Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding Albert's will, return to Robert Throgmorton to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
- If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. Use this ammo sparingly as it depletes quickly.
- Consider investing your first Skill Point into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects reset if you leave and return to the area, allowing for repeated collection of ammo and crafting materials.
- The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewards 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
