Follow our detailed walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, covering key evidence, optional investigations, and NPC interactions to guide you through the early stages of the game.
Walkthrough
- 1On the Ship ('Charon'): This is your first investigation location. Collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (obtained by taking the briefcase), the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun (equip and press Square) before you can fire it.
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the Photo of a trophy plate (a strange fish on the wall). Examine the Flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings. You can also loot the Locker to the right of the desk for random ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable objects can be reset by leaving and returning to the area.
- 3Exit the Boat and Speak to Johannes van der Berg: Climb onto the dock by pressing Triangle. You will automatically start a conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select the following dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing these options will progress the main quest and lock out further optional dialogue.
- 4Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier. Turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and an exit. Go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.".
Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat
- Locate the Lifeboat: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat will be beyond police barricades.
- Collect Evidence: Inspect the lifeboat's name, TITANIA. Examine the Diving Helmet, rotating it to find the search prompt on the front faceplate. Pick up Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat inside the lifeboat. You may need to climb inside (Triangle) to collect some items. Be aware that looking at the diving helmet for too long will drain your sanity.
- Reward: Completing this optional investigation provides an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
- If you purchased the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo quickly; save its initial clip for important moments.
- Consider putting any free Skill Point from DLC into the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. The amount of loot may indicate the danger level of the area.
- When examining the Diving Helmet at the Titania Lifeboat, be mindful of your sanity meter.
