Complete walkthrough for The Sinking City's 'A Frosty Welcome' quest, including key evidence, optional investigations, and character interactions.
Walkthrough
- 1On the ship, collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
- 2Reload your pistol by equipping it and pressing Square.
- 3Use your camera to take a photo of the mounted fish on the wall (Additional Evidence).
- 4Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings (Additional Evidence).
- 5Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock using Triangle.
- 6Speak with Johannes van der Berg. To progress, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing other options will lock you out of certain dialogue branches.
- 7Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit.
- 8Climb the stairs to begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To progress, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.".
Tips
- If you own the Necronomicon Edition or its DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. Use these sparingly as they are difficult to replenish.
- Consider putting your starting Skill Point into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. Their contents are randomized.
- The Titania Lifeboat is an optional investigation site. To find it, return to the sign pointing to the exit, go left down a path, and then left towards the sea.
- At the Titania Lifeboat, inspect the "TITANIA" name, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and look at the front faceplate), and collect "Albert Throgmorton's will" from a seat. Be quick with the diving helmet as it drains sanity.
- Returning Albert's Will to Robert Throgmorton unlocks an additional conversation.
- Completing the main objectives progresses the story.
- Collecting all evidence in a location grants an additional 140 XP.
- Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation grants an additional 140 XP and an extra conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
