Walkthrough
  1. 1
Begin by examining your belongings on the table. This includes your briefcase, which contains a Letter from J. van der Berg, your Camera, and your Pistol.
  2. 2
To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that the gun is not loaded and requires reloading.
  3. 3
Use your camera to take a picture of the strange fish mounted on the wall for additional evidence.
  4. 4
Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings for more optional evidence.
  5. 5
Exit the boat by climbing onto the dock using the Triangle button.
  6. 6
Speak with Johannes van der Berg. Select "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye." to progress.
  7. 7
Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit.
  8. 8
Ascend the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  9. 9
To advance the game, select "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and then "I'll be going."
  10. 10
(Optional) To investigate the Titania Lifeboat, return to the sign, go left down a path, and then left towards the sea.
  11. 11
In the lifeboat, inspect the "TITANIA" name, examine the Diving Helmet (be mindful of sanity drain), and collect "Albert Throgmorton's will" from a seat.
  12. 12
Return to Robert Throgmorton with the will to unlock an additional conversation.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) is powerful but consumes ammunition quickly; save its clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing the free Skill Point (if owned via DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. Be cautious, as large amounts of loot may indicate nearby danger.
  • The Titania Lifeboat is an optional investigation that provides extra XP and an additional conversation, but its evidence is not required for case progression.
  • Be aware that conversations with NPCs have specific dialogue branches that advance the game. Choosing optional branches may lock you out of other dialogue options permanently.
  • Completion of key objectives and optional investigations.
  • Potential XP bonuses for collecting all evidence and completing optional tasks.
  • Access to additional lore and character interactions.
