Learn how to find the Basement Key in The Sinking City. This guide provides step-by-step instructions and tips to help you progress through the game.
Walkthrough
- 1On the "Charon" Ship: Collect your belongings (briefcase, camera, pistol) as key evidence. Examine the flyer and take a photo of the fish on the wall as additional evidence. Loot the locker for randomized supplies.
- 2After leaving the ship: Speak with Johannes van der Berg on the dock. Select "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye."
- 3Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign. Speak with Robert Throgmorton. Select "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and finally "I'll be going."
- 4Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: Return to the sign, go left down a path, and left towards the sea. Inspect the Lifeboat Name "TITANIA," examine the Diving Helmet (be mindful of sanity drain), and collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat inside the lifeboat.
- 5Return to Robert Throgmorton: Give him his son's will to unlock an additional conversation.
Tips
- The Submachine Gun and an extra Skill Point may be awarded if you purchased specific DLC. It's recommended to invest the Skill Point into "Absolute Clarity" for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly looted for ammunition and crafting materials. Be cautious, as large amounts of loot may indicate a dangerous area.
- The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewards extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- Be quick when examining the diving helmet in the lifeboat, as it drains sanity.
Completing the "A Frosty Welcome" mission and its optional elements provides XP, new dialogue options, and essential items for progression.
