A comprehensive guide to Grimhaven Bay East in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional investigations, and character interactions to help you progress.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
On the "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect all evidence to receive bonus XP.
    • Key Evidence: Your belongings on the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), the Camera (usable item for taking pictures as evidence), and your Pistol (requires examination by rotating and pressing X on the handle). You also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun by holding L1 and pressing Square.
  2. 2
Additional Evidence: Use your camera to photograph the Photo of a trophy plate (strange fish on the wall) and examine the Flyer on the desk.
  3. 3
Lootables: A locker to the right of the desk contains randomized ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable objects reset when you leave and return to the area.
  4. 4
    Casebook Tasks & Conversations:
    • Letter from J. van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, exit the boat by pressing Triangle to climb onto the dock. You will automatically speak with Johannes van der Berg. Choose dialogue options to learn about the world. To advance, select "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye." Note that selecting "I need somewhere to stay" closes off other dialogue branches.
  5. 5
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign. Climbing the stairs initiates a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance, select "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and "I'll be going." Other branches are optional.
  6. 6
    Titania Lifeboat (Optional Investigation):
    • Return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This investigation is optional but grants 140 bonus XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  7. 7
Additional Evidence: Inspect the TITANIA name on the Lifeboat. Examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate; prolonged inspection drains sanity). Find Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat. You may need to climb into the lifeboat (Triangle) to collect evidence.
  8. 8
After finding the will, return to Robert Throgmorton to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. The amount of loot may indicate the danger level of the area.
  • The Lifeboat Titania investigation is optional and does not add to your casebook, but provides valuable XP and lore.
  • Be mindful of your sanity when examining the Diving Helmet in the Titania Lifeboat.
Collecting all evidence on the ship grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation also grants 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
