Follow our detailed walkthrough for 'House in Shells' in The Sinking City 2, covering all casebook tasks, evidence locations, and dialogue choices to solve the mystery.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Key Evidence: Your belongings on the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (obtained by taking the briefcase), the Camera (usable for taking pictures as evidence), and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an 'eyeball' symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun by holding L1, selecting the gun, and pressing Square.
  2. 2
Additional Evidence: Use your camera to photograph the Photo of a trophy plate (a strange fish mounted on the wall) and examine the Flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
  3. 3
Lootables: A locker to the right of the desk can be looted for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized and reset when you leave and return to the area.
  4. 4
Casebook Task: Letter from J. van der Berg: Exit the boat by climbing onto the dock (Triangle). You will automatically start a conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance, select: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', and finally 'Goodbye.' Choosing these options will progress the game and lock out optional dialogue branches.
  5. 5
Casebook Task: Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign with directions. Turn right towards the bar and exit. As you ascend the stairs, you will begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance, select: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', and 'I'll be going.' Other dialogue options are optional.
  6. 6
Optional Task: Robert's Request - Lifeboat Titania: Return to the sign with directions. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is optional and does not add to your casebook, but grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  7. 7
Optional Evidence (Lifeboat Titania): Inspect the lifeboat name 'TITANIA'. Examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate; prolonged examination drains sanity). Collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat inside the lifeboat (climb inside using Triangle).
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip for critical moments.
  • Consider investing a Skill Point into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects provide randomized ammunition and crafting materials and can be re-looted after returning to the area. Larger caches may indicate more dangerous encounters.
  • The optional Lifeboat Titania investigation provides no key evidence but offers XP and further dialogue.
