Walkthrough
  1. 1
Charon Ship Investigation: Upon entering the city, the "Charon" ship serves as your first investigation location. Collect all key evidence to receive bonus XP.
  2. 2
Key Evidence: Your belongings on the table (briefcase containing the Letter from J. van der Berg), the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine.
  3. 3
Additional Evidence: Take a photo of the mounted fish with your camera and examine the flyer on the desk.
  4. 4
Lootables: Search lockers and other lootable objects for ammunition and crafting materials. These reset upon returning to the area.
  5. 5
Conversation with Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, exit the ship by pressing Triangle to climb onto the dock. Speak with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Be aware that choosing specific dialogue options will lock out others.
  6. 6
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit. Ascend the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  7. 7
Conversation with Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select the dialogue options: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.". Optional questions can be asked, but "I'll be going." ends the conversation.
  8. 8
Titania Lifeboat (Optional Investigation): If you ask Robert Throgmorton about the lifeboat, return to the sign pointing to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This investigation is optional and does not add to your casebook but grants extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  9. 9
Additional Evidence in Lifeboat: Inspect the "TITANIA" nameplate, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate; prolonged inspection drains sanity), and collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to access some evidence.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if obtained via DLC) uses bullets rapidly; save its initial clip for important moments.
  • Consider investing the free Skill Point (if obtained via DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for resources. Be cautious, as containers with more loot may indicate a more dangerous area.
  • When examining the diving helmet in the Titania Lifeboat, do not hold it for too long to avoid sanity loss.
  • Bonus XP for collecting all key evidence on the "Charon" ship.
  • Bonus XP for completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation.
  • Access to additional conversations with NPCs.
