Follow our comprehensive guide to The Sinking City 2's 'A Frosty Welcome' mission, detailing evidence collection, NPC interactions, and optional objectives for a complete walkthrough.
Walkthrough
- 1The "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings on the table, the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), the Camera, and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds.
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate) and examine the flyer on the desk (Flyer).
- 3Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents are randomized and reset upon leaving and returning to the area.
- 4Speak with Johannes van der Berg: Exit the boat by climbing onto the dock (Triangle). Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", "Goodbye.". Note that choosing these options closes off other conversational branches.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit. Climb the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance the game, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", "I'll be going.". Other questions can be asked optionally.
Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat
- Accessing the Lifeboat: Return to the sign that pointed to the exit. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
- Evidence in Lifeboat: Inspect the Lifeboat Name ("TITANIA"), examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate), and collect Albert Throgmorton's will from a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle). Be aware that looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
- Rewards: Completing this optional investigation provides an extra 140 XP and unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton upon returning his son's will.
Tips
- If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and .45 ACP rounds. This gun consumes ammo quickly; save its initial clip.
- Consider putting a free Skill Point (if applicable from DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Reloading your gun: Equip it via the weapon wheel (hold L1) and press Square.
- Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials. Higher-value lootables may indicate a more dangerous area.
