Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional objectives, and NPC interactions to guide you through the initial stages of the game.
Walkthrough
- 1On the Ship: Collect your key evidence: your belongings on the table, the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), and the Camera. To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that your gun is not loaded and must be reloaded (hold L1, select gun, press Square).
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the trophy plate (a strange fish on the wall) and examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
- 3Lootables: A locker to the right of the desk can be looted for random ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable objects reset if you leave and return to the area.
- 4Exit the Ship: Climb onto the dock using Triangle.
- 5Speak with Johannes van der Berg: You will automatically start a conversation. To advance, select "About my problem," "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay," "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye." Choosing "I need somewhere to stay" locks out some optional dialogue branches.
- 6Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit. Go up the stairs to start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
- 7Speak with Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert," "Tell me more about the case," and finally "I'll be going." Asking about the lifeboat's location is optional and he won't repeat himself.
Optional Investigation: Titania Lifeboat
- Return to the sign that pointed to the exit.
- Go left down a path, then left towards the sea.
- The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
- Additional Evidence: Inspect the "TITANIA" nameplate, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate it and look at the front faceplate; prolonged exposure drains sanity), and pick up "Albert Throgmorton's will" from a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat using Triangle.
- Finding the will unlocks an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
- If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ACP rounds. This gun consumes ammo quickly, so save the initial clip.
- Consider putting a free Skill Point (if received via DLC) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects can be repeatedly looted after they reset.
- The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but rewards extra XP and dialogue.
