Kayfinger beneath the azure cloak

Learn how to find the Kayfingers needed to open Cthygonnaar in The Sinking City 2. This guide covers the first Kayfinger at the St. Michael's Church monolith.

Alright, so after all that business in the last case, Charles Reed needs to get his hands on three Kayfingers. First stop? The Devil's Reef Hotel to rest up and get some crucial info. Once you're back in your room, check the desk. You'll find a couple of important notes: The Prophecy, with my notes and Putting everything together. Read both of them. They explain that Cthygonnaar is an eldritch prison beneath Oakmont, and you need to complete a Seal by finding three stone Kayfingers on Monoliths around the city. The first one is on the central Monolith, and to find the other two, you'll need to seek out the fire worshipers.

The notes point you towards St. Michaels Church of The Burning Bush. When you get there, you'll notice a lot of activity outside, including a cart full of gasoline canisters. Inside the church, you'll find some charred skeletons and a paper called Cleanse yourselves!. It talks about a Cleansing ceremony. Keep an eye out for a gasoline can on the floor and a brazier at the front of the chapel. You can use your Mind's Eye on the brazier.

Head upstairs and you can chat with a woman named Meryl. She'll tell you that what you're looking for is in the basement and that Father Nicholas left notes about the other Monoliths. You can also grab a key from a pedestal overlooking the pyre, and read a Shopping list (seems like they were preparing for something big) and The Book of Holy Flame.

As you head downstairs, be careful! There's a Warning note by the door mentioning that wylebeasts have started appearing. If you go into the Zetetic Room, be sure to have your weapons ready.

In the bedroom, you'll find an illusory wall behind a brick wall with a picture on it. Use your Mind's Eye to dispel it. Be ready, because dispelling the illusion will summon several wylebeasts! Once they're dealt with, you can examine a bottle of Laudanum on a metal cart, a Dream diary, and the Priest's records. The diary and records give you more clues about the Kayfingers and the Cycle.

Now, use your Mind's Eye on the protruding section in the rock in that room. You'll find the first Kayfinger! After that, follow the omens to reveal Father Nicolas' Instruction from beneath an illusory goblet. This will give you clues about the first Monolith and hint that you'll need to visit the Oakmont Chronicle next.
