Guide to Coverside Central in The Sinking City 2. Learn about key evidence, optional items, and how to progress through this early game area.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect your belongings from the table. This includes the Letter from J. van der Berg (from the briefcase), the Camera (usable item for taking pictures), and your Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You will receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Note that your gun is not loaded and must be reloaded (L1 for weapon wheel, then Square) before firing.
  2. 2
Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to take a photo of the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate). Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings (Flyer).
  3. 3
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects can be reset by leaving and returning to the area, providing infinite ammunition and crafting materials.
  4. 4
Talk to Johannes van der Berg: Exit the ship by climbing onto the dock (Triangle). Engage in conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To advance, select: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing other dialogue options will lock you out of them permanently.
  5. 5
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to a bar and exit. Go up the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To advance, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going.".
  6. 6
Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: If you ask Robert Throgmorton about the lifeboat, return to the sign and go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. This is optional and does not add to your casebook, but grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert.
  7. 7
Evidence in Lifeboat: Inspect the lifeboat name (TITANIA). Examine the Diving Helmet, rotating it to look at the front faceplate. Find Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat. You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to collect evidence. Looking at the diving helmet drains sanity over time.
  8. 8
Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding Albert's Will, return to Robert to give him the will and unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. This weapon consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip for a special occasion.
  • If you received a free Skill Point from DLC, invest it in the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects (marked with a specific symbol) can be repeatedly looted for ammunition and crafting materials.
  • The more valuable the loot in a container, the higher the chance of encountering dangerous enemies in the area.
  • When examining the Diving Helmet in the lifeboat, be mindful of your sanity draining.
Collecting all key evidence on the "Charon" ship grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation also grants 140 XP.
