Follow our comprehensive guide to The Sinking City 2's 'A Frosty Welcome' quest, detailing evidence collection, NPC interactions, and optional objectives for a complete walkthrough.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
'Charon' Ship Investigation: Upon arriving in the city, the ship you are on serves as your first investigation location. Collect all key and additional evidence to maximize XP.
  2. 2
Key Evidence: Your belongings on the table (briefcase, camera, pistol). Examine the pistol by rotating it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle and pressing X.
  3. 3
Additional Evidence: Use the camera to photograph the mounted fish trophy and examine the flyer on the desk.
  4. 4
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk for ammunition and crafting materials. Lootable contents reset upon leaving and returning to the area.
  5. 5
Conversation with Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, exit the ship by climbing the dock (Triangle). Initiate a conversation with Johannes van der Berg. To progress, select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye.". Choosing other options may lock out future dialogue branches.
  6. 6
Conversation with Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the bar and exit. Climb the stairs to automatically start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. To progress, select: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and "I'll be going.".
  7. 7
Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: If you ask Robert Throgmorton about his son's lifeboat, you can investigate its location. Return to the sign, go left down a path, and left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
  8. 8
Evidence at Lifeboat: Inspect the lifeboat name "TITANIA", examine the Diving Helmet (rotate to find the front faceplate, be mindful of sanity drain), and collect "Albert Throgmorton's will" from a seat. Climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to access some items.
  9. 9
Reward for Optional Investigation: Completing this optional investigation grants an additional 140 XP and unlocks an extra conversation with Robert Throgmorton after returning his son's will.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) is powerful but consumes ammunition quickly; save it for critical moments.
  • Consider investing the free Skill Point (if applicable) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials.
  • Be cautious when examining the Diving Helmet at the Titania Lifeboat, as it drains sanity.
Completing the main objectives of "A Frosty Welcome" allows progression in the game. Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation provides bonus XP and additional dialogue opportunities.
