Navigate the 'Charon' Ship in The Sinking City 2. Collect key evidence like your belongings, a letter, and a camera to progress. Find optional clues and learn about the game's starting mechanics.
Walkthrough
- 1Collect Key Evidence: Your primary objective is to collect your belongings from the table. This action triggers the acquisition of the Letter from J. van der Berg from the briefcase and your Camera. To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine it. You will also receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun by holding L1, selecting the gun, and pressing Square.
- 2Find Additional Evidence: Use your camera to photograph the strange fish mounted on the wall (Photo of a trophy plate). Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings (Flyer).
- 3Loot Containers: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects, marked with a specific symbol, can be repeatedly searched for ammunition and crafting materials. They reset when you leave and return to the area.
- 4Speak to Johannes van der Berg: After collecting your belongings, climb onto the dock (Triangle) to speak with Johannes van der Berg. Select the dialogue options: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", and finally "Goodbye." Choosing these specific options advances the game and locks out other conversational branches.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier and turn right at the sign pointing to the exit. Ascend the stairs to automatically begin a conversation with Robert Throgmorton. Select the dialogue options: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", and finally "I'll be going."
- 6Optional: Investigate the Lifeboat Titania: If you ask Robert Throgmorton about the lifeboat, return to the sign and go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect the optional evidence: TITANIA (inspect the boat name), Diving Helmet (rotate and examine the front faceplate), and Albert Throgmorton's will (on a seat). You may need to climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to collect evidence. Be aware that looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
Tips
- If you own the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and .45 ABP rounds. Use this ammo sparingly as it depletes quickly.
- Consider putting your starting Skill Point into the Absolute Clarity Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable containers can be exploited for infinite resources by repeatedly leaving and returning to the area.
- The Lifeboat Titania is an optional investigation that provides extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton, but its evidence is not required for case progression.
Collecting all key evidence on the 'Charon' ship grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Lifeboat Titania investigation also provides 140 XP.
