Walkthrough
  1. 1
On the 'Charon' Ship: Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase containing a Letter from J. van der Berg), the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, examine its handle until an 'eyeball' symbol appears and press X. Also collect additional evidence: a photo of the trophy fish (using the camera) and a flyer on a desk. Lootable objects like lockers can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials.
  2. 2
Conversations: After leaving the ship, you will automatically speak with Johannes van der Berg. Key dialogue choices to advance are: 'About my problem.', 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay.', 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', and 'Goodbye.'
  3. 3
Finding Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north from the pier sign, turn right at the bar/exit sign, and go up the stairs to speak with Robert Throgmorton. Key dialogue choices to advance are: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert.', 'Tell me more about the case.', and 'I'll be going.'
  4. 4
Optional: Titania Lifeboat Investigation: Return to the pier sign, go left down a path, then left towards the sea. Collect additional evidence: the Lifeboat Name 'TITANIA', a Diving Helmet (rotate and examine the front faceplate), and Albert Throgmorton's will. Be cautious as looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
  5. 5
Optional: Return Albert's Will: After finding the will, return to Robert Throgmorton to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • The Submachine Gun (if owned via DLC) is powerful but consumes ammo rapidly; save its initial clip.
  • Consider investing the free Skill Point (if received via DLC) into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects can be reset by leaving and returning to the area, providing infinite ammo and crafting materials. Be aware that large amounts of loot may indicate a more dangerous area.
  • The Titania Lifeboat investigation is optional but grants extra XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  • Do not hold the diving helmet for too long during the Titania Lifeboat investigation, as it drains sanity.

Collecting all evidence in a location before concluding a case grants an additional 140 XP. Completing the optional Titania Lifeboat investigation also grants extra XP.
