Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2, detailing key evidence, optional tasks, and NPC interactions to guide you through the early stages of the game.
Walkthrough
- 1'Charon' Ship Investigation: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg, the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an eyeball symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You'll receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun (equip via L1 weapon wheel, press Square).
- 2Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your camera to photograph the trophy plate (a strange fish) on the wall. Examine the flyer on the desk to the left of your belongings.
- 3Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects provide ammunition and crafting materials and reset upon leaving and returning to the area.
- 4Conversation with Johannes van der Berg: After leaving the ship (press Triangle to climb the dock), speak with Johannes van der Berg. To advance the game, select: 'About my problem,' 'Where is Robert Throgmorton?', 'I need somewhere to stay,' 'How do I get to Devil's Reef?', and 'Goodbye.' Choosing 'I need somewhere to stay' locks out some optional dialogue.
- 5Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign with directions. Turn right towards the bar and exit. Ascend the stairs to meet Robert Throgmorton.
- 6Conversation with Robert Throgmorton: To advance the game, select: 'What happened to your son?', 'Who are the Innsmouthers?', 'What do you know about the visions?', 'I can try to find Albert,' 'Tell me more about the case,' and 'I'll be going.' Other branches are optional.
- 7Optional: Titania Lifeboat (Robert's Request): Return to the sign with directions. Go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades.
- 8Evidence in Titania Lifeboat: Inspect the lifeboat name 'TITANIA.' Find the Diving Helmet (rotate and examine the front faceplate). Locate Albert Throgmorton's will on a seat. Climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to access some evidence. Be cautious, as looking at the diving helmet drains sanity.
- 9Reward for Optional Task: Completing the Titania Lifeboat investigation grants an additional 140 XP and unlocks an extra conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Tips
- If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use these sparingly as they deplete quickly.
- Consider putting your free Skill Point (if applicable) into the 'Absolute Clarity' Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
- Lootable objects can be repeatedly searched for ammo and crafting materials.
- The Titania Lifeboat is an optional investigation site; its evidence is not required for casebook progression but offers XP and dialogue rewards.
