Guide to completing 'A Frosty Welcome' in The Sinking City 2. Learn how to find key evidence on the Charon ship, interact with NPCs, and discover optional investigations like the Titania Lifeboat.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
The "Charon" Ship: This is your first investigation location. Collect key evidence: your belongings (briefcase), the Letter from J. van der Berg (obtained by taking the briefcase), the Camera, and the Pistol. To collect the Pistol, pick it up, rotate it until an "eyeball" symbol appears on the handle, and press X to examine. You'll receive 6 .38 pistol rounds. Remember to reload your gun (hold L1 for weapon wheel, select gun, press Square).
  2. 2
Additional Evidence on Ship: Use your Camera to photograph the mounted fish (Photo of a trophy plate) and examine the flyer on the desk (Flyer).
  3. 3
Lootables: Search the locker to the right of the desk. Lootable objects provide random ammunition and crafting materials and can be re-looted after leaving and returning to the area.
  4. 4
Exit the Boat: Climb onto the dock by pressing Triangle.
  5. 5
Talk to Johannes van der Berg: Select dialogue options to advance the conversation: "About my problem.", "Where is Robert Throgmorton?", "I need somewhere to stay.", "How do I get to Devil's Reef?", "Goodbye.". Choosing "I need somewhere to stay" and "Goodbye" locks out other dialogue branches.
  6. 6
Find Robert Throgmorton: Proceed north along the pier to a sign. Turn right towards the "exit" and go up the stairs to start a conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
  7. 7
Talk to Robert Throgmorton: Select dialogue options to advance: "What happened to your son?", "Who are the Innsmouthers?", "What do you know about the visions?", "I can try to find Albert.", "Tell me more about the case.", "I'll be going.". Other branches are optional.
  8. 8
Optional: Titania Lifeboat: Return to the sign, go left down a path, then left towards the sea. The lifeboat is beyond police barricades. Collect additional evidence: Inspect the "TITANIA" nameplate, examine the Diving Helmet (rotate and search the front faceplate, be mindful of sanity drain), and find "Albert Throgmorton's will" on a seat. Climb inside the lifeboat (Triangle) to get some evidence.
  9. 9
Return to Robert Throgmorton: After finding the will, return to Robert to unlock an optional conversation.
Tips
  • If you have the Necronomicon Edition or DLC, you receive a Submachine Gun and 30 .45 ABP rounds. Use these sparingly as ammo is scarce.
  • Consider putting a free Skill Point (if applicable) into the "Absolute Clarity" Mind skill for a 5% XP bonus.
  • Lootable objects reset and can be re-looted for more materials and ammo.
  • The Titania Lifeboat is an optional investigation that grants 140 XP and an additional conversation with Robert Throgmorton.
Completing the key evidence on the ship and talking to NPCs progresses the main story. Optional investigations like the Titania Lifeboat provide bonus XP and lore.
